You will experience the importance of peace in Nagasaki, the site of the atomic bombing, as you travel from Peace Park to Urakami Cathedral, the Atomic Bomb Museum, and the One-Pillar Torii Gate.

Nagasaki Stadium City
From the train window
Opening in October 2024, it is a huge complex consisting of five main buildings: an arena, a hotel, commercial facilities, and an office building, centered around a soccer stadium.

Peace Park
Located on the hill to the north of the Atomic Bomb Hypocenter Park, this park was created with the hope of lasting world peace. In front of the Peace Memorial Statue, created by sculptor Seibo Kitamura, the Peace Fountain is filled with water.

Urakami Cathedral

Christians who maintained their faith despite persecution overcame financial difficulties and dedicated the temple in 1914. It was destroyed by the atomic bombing in 1945, but was rebuilt in its current form in 1980.

Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum
You can view exhibits including photographs and documents organized around themes such as "August 9, 1945," "The reality of the damage caused by the atomic bomb," and "Aiming for a world without nuclear weapons."

One-pillar torii gate
From the train window
Sanno Shrine is located on a hill about 800 meters southeast of the hypocenter. This is one of the four torii gates that stood on the approach to the shrine. The left half, which was blown off during the bombing, is also kept nearby.
